Job Description
A software development engineer in test (SDET) is responsible for ensuring the quality of the product using all available tools - white-box testing, automation, grey-box testing, and manual testing. They will work closely with other QA resources and technical leaders to ensure that test coverage is sufficient in scope and maintainable.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Participate in code review process
Use internal automated test tools to write and exercise automation
Responsible for feature testing prior to code completion
Responsible for functional testing independent of specific projects
Responsible for defining tests and test plans
Responsible for running tests during the feature testing cycle
Responsible for maintaining tests through the life of the test
Responsible for verifying bugs found during feature testing
Responsible for improving product testability and designing for test
Influence the improvement of the automation framework and test infrastructure
Ownership of escalations, as required
Ownership of bugs reported by the individual
Ownership of the bugs in the "team buckets," as required
Relies primarily on software engineering skills to create automated tests
Qualifications
Strong design and development in C# and ASP.NET
Excellent system troubleshooting expertise
Great communication and teamwork skills
Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
Strong understanding of test methodologies and their utility
Strong advocate of product quality and customer satisfaction
Understanding of test methodologies and their utility
Experience in testing server products
Database knowledge (SQL/OLAP)
Familiarity with IIS/XML Web Services
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Expertise:
Experience developing software in Windows environments
General understanding of software/hardware development processes and techniques
Understand software testing methodology and experience in test automation tool development
Basic networking skills
Experience writing and executing test plans with Windows clients, browser clients, Windows servers, and database systems
Passion for product quality and solving complex automation problems
Familiarity with SQL Server, web services and multi-tiered client and server distributed applications is preferred
Experience in testing server products
Education and Experience:
BS or higher degree in Computer Science
3-5 years of related experience
