Infosys to employ 62,000 at Hyderabad facility

HYDERABAD: Infosys Technologies Ltd, is likely to employ about 62,000 at its facility in Hyderabad, which will soon overtake Bangalore as the company's largest development centre both in terms of headcount and service offerings over the next 2-3 years.

A senior member delegation from Infosys who met Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Minister for IT & Communications is believed to have conveyed that the company will employ about 10,000 by the end of this year.

Infosys has so far invested over `350 crore to develop the first phase of its 440-acre campus in Pocharam and currently has a workforce of about 5,000.

Currently, Bangalore is the largest development centre with over 25,000 employees, followed by Pune with 21,000 associates. Hyderabad ranks third with a total headcount of over 18,000 (13,300 at Gachibowli and 4,700 at Pocharam).

Recently, Ashok Vemuri, Board Member, Head of Americas and Global Head of Financial Services & Insurance, Infosys told that Hyderabad facility, which contributes $1 billion in revenues for the company, will emerge as the company's largest centre in the years to come.
